Reading Intervention Program
At McDuff English College, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to unlock their full potential in literacy. Our Reading Intervention Program is tailored to provide targeted assistance for students who may be struggling with comprehension, fluency, or vocabulary. Led by experienced educators, this program offers personalised strategies to build confidence and foster a lifelong love for reading. Whether it’s mastering the basics or tackling more complex texts, we’re here to ensure every child develops the skills needed to succeed academically and beyond. With an emphasis on understanding each student’s unique needs, our Reading Support program combines proven methods with a nurturing approach, helping students thrive in and out of the classroom.
Reading and Spelling Assessment and Report
Necessary pre-requisite
30-45 minutes
This assessment is a necessary pre-requisite to program entry as it allows us to determine firstly if your child is a suitable candidate for optimum progress and then if tuition is necessary, which program would be of most benefit. You will also receive a written report.
The assessment takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the age of the student.
The McDuff English College can also provide an optional post-tuition assessment and report. This assessment complements the pre-tuition tests administered at the beginning of the program. They provide information on your child’s language development, including spelling and reading ages.
MEC Individual Literacy Program
Specifically Tailored
One-to-one tuition
The MEC Individual Literacy Program caters for children of all school ages. It is specifically tailored to your child’s literacy needs. The aim of this program is to assist students to comprehend written text and engage as happy, confident readers.
The sessions are one-to-one, usually with the same specialist. All students are required to complete one full semester initially. Some
may need to participate for longer and McDuff English College will provide recommendations about further enrolment if this is necessary. A fee for this will be charged based on each extra school term.
MEC Individual Literacy Program
For two school terms. Students attend twice weekly for 1 hour sessions.
Further enrolment may be recommended
